Mentoring for Ministers

Mentoring is a helping relationship between two people that supports personal and/or professional development of a less experienced individual, called a mentee, through discussions held with a more experienced individual known as a mentor. Based on my decades of experience in Spiritual Companioning and Pastoral Ministry, I provide mentoring to persons engaged in professional spiritual work: clergy, chaplains, spiritual companions. etc. Mentoring differs from the Professional Supervision I provide (described here) in that Supervision focuses on helping the supervisee to become a more effective Spiritual Companion whereas Mentoring has a broader focus. During a Mentoring session we can discuss any aspects of your career or vocation: (list some).

Mentoring may come sporadically, as needed, or the mentor and mentee may meet on a regular basis. An individual may want to work with a mentor for a variety of reasons:

  • To learn a new technical skill

  • To learn or develop a competency

  • To develop leadership or management skills

  • To assist in career transitions such as: new roles, changing jobs, or different organization structure.
